Medicines from the Earth 2005, Tape #16

Title: Chemically Defined Preparations of Echinacea in Prevention and Treatment of the Common Cold

Speaker:  J. David Gangemi, PhD

This presentation focuses on the results of an NIH funded human clinical trial designed to evaluate chemically defined constituents of Echinacea on prevention of rhinovirus infection and
reduction of the symptoms associated with the common cold. The chemically defined preparations evaluated include both the hydrophilic and lipophilic constituents of Echinacea commonly associated with beneficial effects.

The results of this study were widely publicized by the media in 2005, many saying this proved that Echinacea "doesn't work."  Find out the truth from the scientist who conducted the study, and what his recommendations are for studies in the future.  The audiotape ends before the valuable question and answer session is over.  Order the CD to hear the whole presentation.
